Community leaders
The Board of Directors of SCCC is comprised of parents of the corporation, as well as general community members. Within the Board of Directors, there is also an Executive Committee, which is comprised of the President, Vice President, and the Treasurer/Secretary. There are times that this committee makes executive decisions, which are subsequently discussed by the entire board at the Directors meeting and noted in the minutes.
The Board of Directors is responsible for:
Providing a governance structure
Developing, reviewing, and approving policies and procedures
Ensuring legal requirements are met
Protecting the privacy of families
Providing effective leadership and open communication with staff, parents, the community at large, the Ministry of Education, and the City of Toronto
Ensuring financial viability of SCCC
Advocating for a favorable community
Evaluating service
The parents of SCCC are general members of the corporation. All members are welcome to attend Board of Directors meetings. Throughout the year, the Board of Directors works on various projects, policies and procedures, and financial matters related to the business of the SCCC. Members of the Board are elected during the Annual General Meeting, typically held in April. Positions on the Board of Directors are held for at least a two-year term.
