In our preschool full day program, we support children’s:
School readiness including early literacy through pre-writing skills and language development.
Cultivate strong interpersonal skills by engaging in cooperative activities, practicing turn-taking, and honing problem-solving abilities so that children can build positive relationships with others.
Inspire and encourage positive self esteem and confidence within children through responsive and nurturing interactions.
Encourage self-help and independence in daily life skills such as feeding themselves, dressing and following through with bathroom routines with minimal assistance.
Help develop critical thinking through meaningful conversations, open-ended play, and opportunities for observing, reasoning, questioning and experimenting.
Provide children with strategies to develop self regulating of their emotions and behaviours through expressing ideas/feelings.
We are preparing children for success in kindergarten as well as success in life.
The Preschool program has 4 spots for children 24 to 30 months and 18 spots for children 30 months to 4 years.
Before and After School (Kindergarten and School Age) programs are open 7:00 am – 9:15 am, 3:45 pm – 6:00 pm. On PA Days, Christmas & March Breaks we run a full day, 7:00 am-6:00 pm, program.
The program is designed for children who attend Selwyn Elementary Public School. Educational learning experiences are provided based on children’s interests and needs. Selwyn Community Childcare Centre before and after school program promotes children’s well-being by providing healthy snacks that encourages healthy eating habits. children flourish in programs that are structured to let them shape the program, by providing opportunities for choice, and leadership with a focus on strengths and the development of skills and relationships.
The program supports the kids in their life skills including, the ability to express and negotiate their ideas/feelings, enhance their empathy towards others, develop problem solving and leadership skills. The programs also focus on promoting the development of significant friendships, social skills, and respect for diversity. Our activities inspire children to cultivate creativity and acquire diverse skills and knowledge. This preparation equips them for the future, when they will have independence to manage their time before and school.
We offer summer camp for the months of July and August for kindergarten and school age children between 7:00 am-6:00 pm.
Our full day summer camp provides children with fun activities, enrichment programs, waterplay and trips. Our Registered Early Childhood Educator staff maintain a safe, positive, loving, and reliable environment for the children within our community.
We also offer Dietician approved catered snacks and lunches Monday – Friday for all children enrolled in the summer program.
